Success is Delicious: CBB Advises a French Bakery, Isabelle et Vincent, on Sale.

03 October 2018

Isabelle et Vincent, a Fairfield, CT patisserie and chocolatier, today announced that Jill and Mike Saulsberry  have acquired substantially all of the assets of the company from its founders, Vincent and Isabelle Koenig.  Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2007 by French immigrants seeking to recreate their popular Strasbourg patisserie here in Connecticut, Isabelle et Vincent is an old-world French bakery and chocolatier specializing in breads, cakes, pastries, chocolates and other delectable fare.  Helmed by a seventh-generation French baker, Isabelle et Vincent is well known both locally and more broadly for its exceptional quality, traditional aesthetic and wonderful service.

“Isabelle et Vincent has been tantalizing the eyes and palates of its customers for more than a decade in Fairfield,” said Vincent Koenig, owner and chef.  “We pride ourselves on using only the freshest and finest ingredients and making everything by hand and from scratch in the traditional French way.  We are thrilled to be selling to Jill and Mike, who we know will carry on with an uncompromising dedication to quality.”

Mr. Koenig and his wife, Isabelle, added:  “We really enjoyed working with Irina at Comer Business Brokers.  She had an answer to all our questions and attended to every step in the sale very quickly.  Her professionalism, combined with her knowledge in real estate, marketing, and accounting, make her a very strong broker.”

“Isabelle et Vincent is quite possibly the best French bakery this side of the Atlantic and has a tremendous reputation both in Fairfield and beyond.  Vincent and Isabelle built an exceptional business by combining an unwavering dedication to quality and freshness with a memorably satisfying ambience,” said Mike, a trained French baker with more than 40 years of industry experience.  “Jill and I are looking forward to preserving the cozy French atmosphere, continuing to offer exceptional quality baked goods, and adding some of our own unique flourishes.  We are excited to both continue serving the numerous existing customers and introduce the joys of French baking to many new customers.”

Mr. and Mrs. Saulsberry added:  “We are truly thankful for Irina’s involvement in the sale.  We were skeptical about being able to find a way to buy our dream business, but Irina assured us that she could help us navigate the process, and she was true to her word.  She is a top-notch professional.”

“Vincent and Isabelle built an iconic business in Fairfield, and I know Mike and Jill will continue to grow it with class.  It is incredibly satisfying to be able to connect people so passionate about French baking and to help preserve and expand a legacy of excellence,” said Irina Comer, founder of Comer Business Brokers, which brokered the transaction for Mr. and Mrs. Keonig.  She added:  “It was a great pleasure working with Vincent, Isabelle, Mike and Jill, and when everyone emerges happy from the sale process, we know we’ve helped yet another business owner Sell WellTM.”
